Capitals Hire Lizaad Williams to Take Harry Brook’s Place

The Delhi Capitals team in the IPL has made a new signing. They’ve brought South African fast bowler Lizaad Williams to replace Harry Brook, who had to leave the tournament after his grandmother passed away.

Williams will be playing in the IPL for the first time, and he’s joining Capitals for a fee of 50 lakh INR. His addition will strengthen the team’s fast bowling department, which already includes players like Anrich Nortje, Ishant Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed, Jhye Richardson, and Mukesh Kumar. They also have two all-rounders who can bowl fast, Mitchell Marsh and Sumit Kumar.

Initially, the team also had Lungi Ngidi, but he’s out due to a back injury.

Williams has a good track record in T20 cricket, with 106 wickets from 83 matches at an average of 19.76. He started playing for South Africa in 2022 and has played a few matches in different formats for them. He was also part of South Africa’s 2023 ODI World Cup squad.

His arrival is crucial for the Capitals, as Mitchell Marsh is out due to a hamstring injury.

Williams did well for Joburg Super Kings in the SA20, getting 15 wickets and coming fourth in the list of top wicket-takers.

The Delhi Capitals need Williams’ help as Mitchell Marsh is injured with a hamstring problem and won’t play for about a week.

The Capitals are at the bottom of the points table because they’ve lost four out of five matches.
